As a child Sasuke adored his older brother, Itachi, and strove to gain both Itachi's and his father's approval. When Sasuke was seven years old, He came home late one night to find his home strangely quiet. Eventually, Sasuke found his parents dead on the floor in front of Itachi. At first Sasuke was confused, but realized that Itachi had been the one to kill his parents, as well as the rest of their family. Sasuke tried to attack his brother but was defeated so easily that he ran from Itachi, crying and pleading to be left alive. Itachi told Sasuke to live a pitiful life filled with nothing but hatred so that one, day Sasuke would be strong enough to defeat him or at least be killed by him. He also revealed to Sasuke the secret of the Mangekyou Sharingan. He told Sasuke to kill his closest friend.
Sasuke lived for the next five years how Itachi had ordered him to: alone and filled with hatred. Then he was put into Team 7 with Uzumaki Naruto and Haruno Sakura to be lead by the jounin Hatake Kakashi. He thought they were all annoying idiots, and that Naruto and Sakura were not worth his time.
Sasuke eventually became to think of his team as, not friends, but the most important people to him. Even though he would never admit it, Sasuke acknowledged Naruto's strength, trusted Kakashi, and felt a need to protect Sakura.
During the second part of the Chuunin exam, Sasuke was attacked by Orochimaru, who bit Sasuke and left a mark called the Curse Seal, planning to move himself into Sasuke's body if he survived. Sasuke was unconscious for a long time as he fought to survive the effects of the seal. While he was asleep, Sakura tried with all her power to protect Sasuke and Naruto, who was also unconscious, from the Sound Ninjas who had attacked them. Lee, Ino, Shikamaru, and Chouji also fought the sound nins. When Sasuke woke, his first words were to ask Sakura who had hurt her, and he then attacked him ruthlessly. He was eventually stopped by Sakura when she wrapped her arms around him to keep him from staying the heatless being the Curse Seal turned him into.
When Itachi came to abduct Naruto, Sasuke ran as fast as he could, desperate to find and defeat his older brother. He was easily defeated though, just as he had been the first time. Itachi used his Sharingan to force Sasuke to relive the day of his family's death over and over again.
When Sasuke awoke in the hospital, he immediately challenged Naruto to a fight. Kakashi managed to stop them in time, and Sasuke was told that he would have been killed by Naruto's attack. Sasuke could not take his consecutive losses to Itachi and Naruto, both of whom he had been striving to defeat, so he left with four ninjas from the Sound to join Orochimaru in the hopes that he would be able to gain enough power to defeat his brother. Sasuke was given a pill that would raise his Curse Seal to the second level. There weren't many adult ninjas left in Konoha at the time, so Tsunade sent Shikamaru, Kiba, Neji, Chouji, and Naruto to bring Sasuke back to the village. Naruto eventually reached Sasuke who told Naruto that he considered him his closest friend and then tried to kill him in order to gain the Mangekyou Sharingan his brother used. When they were both using the powers that came to them from foreign beings, the Curse Seal and the Kyuubi, Sasuke and Naruto used the same attacks they had used on each other on the roof of the hospital, Chidori and Rasengan. This time, Sasuke defeated Naruto. When Naruto was beaten however, Sasuke chose not to kill him. He decided to gain power in a different way than his brother had, even if it meant joining Orochimaru and betraying the few people he cared about.
He reached the Sound village and told Orochimaru to give him power.
And he has yet to make an actual appearance in the new chapters of the manga. -_-; All he's gotten are a few memory images… ;_; I want to know what happened to Sasuke-kun!
